Crime Pays; Godfather II
Amongst the range of videogames based on films, The Godfather was regarded one of the best. A game that incorporated original footage and events from the film and built an entire new gaming campaign around it, this game was hailed as a success across the board. Thus hopes were high for the sequel due out soon.
Despite a warm critical acclaim, Godfather did have a few gripes that needed working on. Environments were continuously recycled, leading to a disappointingly unrealistic world, and the A.I of enemies was notoriosuly unintelligent. The rather one-note gameplay has also been extensively revised to create a game that requires a little more than simply blasting your way through situations.
Utilizing your own small but skilled team of 'associates', you must gain a name and reputation for yourself within the world of organised crime, taking advantage of your "Don's View", a highly detailed and intuitive map allows you to spy out the criminal world around you, giving you the best options of who to challenge and how it will further your gains. As you progress by offing your rivals, your team of associates will grow to include more specialised individuals, thus opening up further paths for your conquest.
Godfather II expands upon the original in every way, ironing out the problems suffered initially and building upon the mechanics of the first game to offer a new, more intelligent action adventure game.
