Grand Theft Auto....Nintendo DS...huh?!?

One of the most popular, and controversial, gaming franchises of all time, Grand Theft Auto returns again this year. After a string of sellout games crossing various platforms, the franchise is finally breaking into new and unexpected ground with Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars on the Nintendo DS. So how does a game famed for its graphic violence and content transfer to a system known for its child friendly stance?

It seems that some of the more extreme aspects of the franchise have definitely been revised for Chinatown Wars. Whilst the gameplay and content of the title obviously can't be changed too drastically, the gore and violence have been toned down to a degree, without losing much of the ethos that made the franchise so popular.

Harking back to the earlier Grand Theft games, the view takes a top down stance and perspective, although the camera will swing in close for conversation and key scenes. This works well to compliment the revised and cartoonish graphics chosen for this DS installment.

Revolving around the organised crime within Liberty City's Chinatown district, the game offers both a concentrated and extensive single player campaign. Aside from this, the large open world environment includes many side quests and extra content available for exploration. Worthy of note is the A.I system used for civilians, pretty advanced for the DS.

Fans of this franchise know exactly what to expect from this game, and the transfer to DS is definitely a success in its own right. So if you're a fan of pevious GTAs, China Town War is a dead cert.
