Making Playstation At Home

Continuing a string of new functions implemented on their console, Sony have created Playstation Home, an interactive environment for Playstation users. This is a continuation of the popular social networking functions that are taking the online world by storm. Sony have begun a long term strategy to provide users with essentially a whole new world at their fingertips.

Playstation Home is set to be a continually expanding function, with the early version we're seeing at the moment set to be periodically updated and improved. The attributes we can enjoy at the moment  include the ability to buy and personalize your own home, playing a real game through your virtual home, and traversing the virtual world interacting with other users.

Playstation Home is best described visually as a massive online version of The Sims, with players able to personalise and decorate their own home space, as well as customizing the appearance and attributes of your representative 'bot'. It's even possible to invite another user to your home and watch streamed videos on your virtual TV, if the video is installed on your hard drive. Whilst in the Playstation World, users are free to interact with other users from around the world, participating in online games of chess or even meeting at the bowling alley.

Players are also able to communicate with each other in a variety of ways. This includes simply conversing through a number of pre-planned questions and answers, brought up through the prompt menu. Users can also use the keyboard function to enter their own text should they so choose.

With Playstation Home already considered a hugely successful and addictive function, Sony promises that further updates along the way will keep users hooked. Imagine having your own little interact pet following you around- you need only wait to see what the future holds for Playstation Home!
